August 27, 2006 It was Sunday afternoon, August 27 and the 654 seats in Woodlands Auditorium were almost all occupied for "The Bath House Show". Only there was no "bath house", there was no "bath" ... not even a shower! But there definitely was a "show" performed by 10 very talented people. Tom and Kelley Wilkins, parents of Marcilee and Katie, have co-owned and operated the popular Hot Springs attraction since 1988. Tom sings, is a comedian, plays guitar, banjo and more. Kelley sings, is a comedienne, designs sets, designs costumes, choreographs the performance movements and more. Marcilee sings, plays piano extremely well, keyboard, drums and guitar ... did we mention violin? Katie shares her sisters talent with voice, keyboard, drums and violin. Rounding out the family production are Tammy Green, trumpet; Chris Campbell, Drums, vocal and guitar; Benny Bennet, Bass; Wayne Scott, Guitar and Banjo; Jared "Slide" Roberts, trombone and saxophone and Chris Counts, Saxophone. And very young Brandon Campbell was there as "drummer-in-training". Daniel Keller is the light board operator at the downtown theatre. The show featured music from the '50's, 60's and 70's. Buford Presley, (a distant cousin, a very distant cousin) to Elvis, made an appearance along with very distant cousins of Sonny and Cher. (Buford and Sonny by Tom Wilkins and Cher by Kelley Wilkins.) A rousing Hot Springs Village standing ovation was their reward at the end of the performance. For Pictures from the August 27th performance click along this line. |
